Summer Workshops

Learn Stranded/Fair Isle Knitting

July 14-17, 2024 at Blue Mountain Retreat Center

Knitting with 2 or more colors is easy - once you know how!  Stranded (sometimes called "fair isle") technique is really all about tension, and learning to hold two strands of yarn!  We'll have 2 projects - easy for complete beginners, with just 2 colors and slightly more difficult for those who'd like a challenge.  Registration is now open.

 Nature's Rainbow:  Natural Dyeing  - August 11-14, 2024

We are excited to announce that Lisa Check of Flying Goat Farm will be leading our August workshop, sharing her knowledge of natural  dyeing techniques.

This is sure to be a fun trip through the garden and the dye pot - messy, wet, and super-fun!

This class will delve into the history and significance of the traditional craft of dyeing, including Japanese Shibori techniques.  We'll explore the magic hidden in flowers, leaves, nuts, bark and bugs, and use these vibrant pigments to apply them to your materials.

The workshop is 2 and 1/2 intensive days of instruction and practice.  The materials fee will include dyeables, dyes, mordants, shibori supplies and comprehensive handouts for future reference.
